Starting seeds is easy and fun! All you need is some type of a container, like a milk jug, egg carton, or plastic flat or seed starting kit from a garden center.
-Use a good light soil that is specific for starting little seeds.
-Have a fine spray mister handy to keep the soil moist.
-At the very least seedlings need bright light in a window. Most people find using grow lights and heat mats beneficial.
Flowers like nasturtiums and sweet peas, and veggies like peas, spinach and lettuce, are easy and can be started today. Some seeds can be placed between wet paper towels to speed up germination. You can even use toilet paper rolls and saran wrap instead of peat pellets and plastic domes.
