It’s Jenny from My Garden Nursery!
July is when Bellingham gardens soak up the sun and really start to show off, but they’ll need a little extra love to keep going strong.
-Now’s the time to keep your plants well-watered. Morning waterings are best.
-Don’t forget about mulch and using water bags or hose rings.
-Deadhead those perennials to keep the color coming, and pinch back herbs like basil for a bushier harvest.
-Make sure those tomatoes are supported and get consistent water…no one likes a cracked tomato!
-And if you’re planting…yes, you can still plant…think hardy conifers, trees, summer blooming shrubs and heat-loving perennials, and annuals! Plant in the evening or early morning and water well to keep them happy.
This weekend it was a pleasure to present a $1000 scholarship to honor one of My Garden’s founders, Connie, who we lost last July. The Connie Ray Love “Joy of Gardening” $1000 Scholarship went to Noah Brown. We know he will bring joy to people through plants and gardening in the years to come! Congratulations Noah!
