Everyday, people ask the experts at My Garden Nursery, “What do I do about the deer?” They recommend choosing plants with grey, fuzzy, woody or waxy leaves…and plants that have thorns or a heavy herbal or medicinal scent. Plants with these characteristics are less likely to get munched by deer.
Deer repellents are also effective and generally involve non-toxic ingredients like rotten eggs, dried blood, and coyote urine. Just don’t forget to reapply after the rain. A barking German Shepherd or a 10′ tall fence can also do the trick!
It’s bulb planting time, so along with the crocus, snowdrops and daffodils that we know deer don’t like, pick up some adorable rock garden tulips that deer often pass over. Their favorite is the sweet yellow and white Tarda! Deer be gone!
