It’s tomato planting time! Here are two fairly reliable tricks from the experts at My Garden Nursery to help you grow some yummy tomatoes.
-Timing is EVERYTHING.
Tomatoes have been in stores for the past couple of weeks. Tomatoes planted in April and May have all the same size come June. In fact, May tomatoes often outshine April tomatoes because they didn’t get stunted by early-Spring chill.
-Use ground cover fabric.
The fabric keeps weeds back while the tomatoes grow. There are two types of fabric they recommend. Black fabric will trap the heat…and tomatoes LOVE heat! This will help your plants thrive and last longer into fall. Red fabric will trap some heat, but more importantly, it reflects red light. Your tomato will get an extra dose of light, a boost of heat, and you’ll look like a professional with your award-winning tomatoes!
