Choosing NATIVE plants for your garden can be baffling. As a group of plants, they may not be the most eye-catching or colorful but their long-term success in your garden is more likely and they will not need any pampering.
There are some natives like Queen Anne’s Lace and Wild Blue Lupine that are seen on the side of the road or growing in a wild place at a friend’s property, that you will probably not find in most nurseries. These plants do not grow as well in big production greenhouses, or they grow too fast, so they do not make a great retail plant.
Some of our favorite native plants at My Garden Nursery are Vine Maples, Knickinick, Deer Ferns and the Western sword fern. Two great reasons to plant natives are they are natural friends to critters, birds and bees and they SAVE you money. You won’t need to fertilizer or use pest or disease controls on most of them.
