You may be familiar with B.T., or bacillus thuringiensis, which is an excellent biological insecticide effective on leaf-eating worms like the cabbage worm…especially for caterpillars on shade trees, ornamentals, fruits and vegetables. (We’ve been seeing a lot of tent caterpillars this year!) Whether or not to kill the caterpillars or let the birds eat them is up to each gardener.
Another new Bio product is Revitalize from Bonide, a Bio-Fungicide, that not only controls black spot, botrytis blight, and gray mold, but it also is a preventative. It can be used on trees, shrubs, roses, fruits, nuts, vegetables… and even indoor plants! It’s approved for organic gardening and will not harm beneficial insects.
