People across the state are eager to help out victims of the recent hurricanes and wildfires.  But before you pull out your checkbook or drop cash in a bucket, make sure the group/person is legit. People are preying on your generosity.  One of the ways the con artists work is to impersonate legitimate organizations.  They’ll even go so far as to use similar names and logos. Prior to giving, always research a charity on the Washington Secretary State “Information for Donors” page.   You can also search for information with the Better Business Bureau or Give.org, a website run by the Council of Better Business Bureaus.
