We’ve all heard of the 30 day rule by now, right? If you want a big ticket item, wait 30 days before you buy. If you still want it after a month, go for it! Well, the 10 second rule is similar, but it’s much faster and more on the spot. The 10-second rule states that if you’re about to make a purchase, spend 10 seconds talking yourself out of it! Come up with a couple of reasons you don’t need it! Do you have something similar? Can you borrow it from a friend? If you start to have doubts in that 10-seconds, put it down! You can always grab it next time you’re at the store…but odds are, you’ll forget about it if it’s a want and not a need.
