It’s basically using paper envelopes to keep each area of your budget in check. Where do you start? Well, first come up categories for your main expenses like housing, food, gas, entertainment, etc., and a budget for each. Then, every month, fill each envelope with the cash you’ve allotted for that category. Here comes the hard part…when it’s gone, it’s gone! Once you’ve spent the money in that envelope, you can’t spend any more money on that category until next month.
