After struggling with home school, it could be tougher than usual to keep your kids in good reading habits this summer. Parenting Magazine put together some tips to help you out! Here are five ways to get your kids to read more this summer:
• ADD AN AUDIENCE — Have your child read out loud to you, siblings, favorite toys or even the dog.
• START A BOOK CLUB — Have your child’s friends over and serve snacks or do activities related to the book of choice.
• SET UP A SCREENING — Get your child to read a book with the promise you’ll sit down together and watch the related video or movie. Talk over the differences between the two.
• MAKE A SCRAPBOOK — Your child can jot down comments, criticisms and art about the books read this summer.
• SEND A LETTER TO THE AUTHOR — If your child really loves a book, you can letter your child’s letter to the author care of the publisher.
