An 11-year-old boy is about to complete a pretty amazing feat… and it’ll happen in Whatcom County.
Noah Barnes has Type-1 Diabetes. He needs insulin shots every day. He’s tired of it. And he wanted to do something about it.
Noah had a big idea. He wanted to walk across America raising money and awareness to help find a cure.
Noah’s parents were NOT down with this crazy, walking-across-the-country plan… at first. But Noah was persistent. And when he looked his dad in the eye and said, “Don’t you want me to be cured?” it changed everything.
So, after a lot of discussion, they sold most of what they owned, Dad quit his job, they cashed in the 401-K, and emptied the savings account.
Then, January 1, they started their trek in Key West, Florida. Tomorrow, they’ll finish at the Peace Arch in Blaine.
Noah and his dad, Robert, have walked the entire way, while his mom, Joanne takes care of the logistics, and Noah’s two siblings, from their Jeep Wrangler.
And now… almost a year after they started… and with the help of a lot of good people… they’re a day away from finishing this journey.
If you want to help Noah in his cause to cure Type-1 Diabetes… you can find more information and donate on his website, here.
You can also read Noah’s mom’s blog here, and see pictures from the journey on their Instagram page.
We got a chance to chat with Noah and his family and we featured them as our Feel-Good Moment of the Day on Friday, which you can hear here!
