The Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association is hosting a work party for volunteers on Saturday, March 7th from 9am-12pm along Smith Creek, a tributary of the Nooksack River!
Volunteers will help cut back Himalayan blackberry and replace it with native trees and shrubs.
NSEA provides everything you need to participate, but here are some other things to keep in mind:
- Any necessary tools, instructions, and gardening gloves are provided (XS-XL sizes available).
- Most sites are wet even if it is not raining so bringing water-resistant/proof layers will keep you more comfortable.
- Closed-toed shoes are required, and we recommend ones that can get dirty (because they will!)
- A portable toilet will be available at sites that do not have public restrooms.
- If the event requires a shuttle, it will run throughout the event for anyone that shows up later or needs to leave early.
- We strive to provide coffee, water, and light snacks at each event, but if you have additional dietary needs, please bring those.
- A reusable coffee cup and water bottle are highly recommended to keep these events as waste free as possible!
