Deming Library Mural Unveiling

The Deming Library invites you to the unveiling of their new mural, painted by celebrated Coast Salish artist Sienum Jason LaClair, on Saturday, September 13th from 5:30pm-7:30pm.

This unique piece of art celebrates the rich traditions of the Nooksack people, who have called this place home for time immemorial.  You’ll hear words from Nooksack Tribal Chairwoman, EamYatil RoseMary LaClair and Sienum Jason LaClair.  Enjoy songs from the Nooksack Royalty.  And listen to Nooksack storyteller Skwetslatse’elhot Si’li’xw’tunawt Angela Letoi as she shares the Salmon Woman tale.

Following the speeches, there will be a potluck meal.  Bring a dish to share (or not), there will be plenty of food.

This celebration and mural is made possible with generous support from the following organizations: The Norcliffe Foundation, Whatcom Educational Credit Union, Whatcom Community Foundation’s Project Neighborly and the Friends of the Deming Library.
