The Allied Arts of Whatcom County invite you to the 2023 Whatcom Cultural Arts Festival from March 10th, 11th, & 12th at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal.
Celebrate the cultural diversity of our area through the common language of visual and performing arts. There will be performances, workshops, presentations, and vendors all throughout the weekend.

A schedule of the weekend includes:
Friday, March 10
12:00-1:30 pm: Vincent Felciano of House of The Salish Sun Arts is a Native American Hip Hop Artist, Producer and Native American Flute Player!
2:00-3:30: Rachel Carter is a raqs sharqi (belly dance) performer and will also be teaching a dance lesson.
4:00 pm-5:30 pm –Peter Ali will be performing a variety of Native American Style and Mezo American style flutes as well as a Nordic and Middle Eastern Style flute. Telling the stories of who and why they were used as well as their connection to Middle Eastern Berber/Indigenous Mexica and so much more.
Youth Art Activities
3:00-5:30: Rachel Carter “Mask-Making”: What Masks Reveal. Make masks with paint, and all sorts of eclectic treasures. Learn some of the wide variety of Cultures and different Facial Expressions in Masks around the world.
Saturday, March 11
12:00-1:00pm –Peter Ali will be performing a variety of Native American Style and Mezo American style flutes as well as a Nordic and Middle Eastern Style flute. Telling the stories of who and why they were used as well as their connection to Middle Eastern Berber/Indigenous Mexica and so much more.
1:15-2:15: Spring Cheng is a native Chinese singer and songwriter. Her music draws inspiration from ancient Chinese poetry, telling stories of her life across two cultures, while weaving English and Chinese words together into a tapestry. She will be performing with Jesse French, a Bellingham musician. Catch “Spring and Jesse – The Earth Song”.
2:45-3:45: Rachel Carter is a raqs sharqi (belly dance) performer who is delighted to bring Syrian musician, Morhaf al Achkar (oud player), and drummer David B.Metz (arabic tabla) to the Whatcom Cultural Arts Festival to perform live!
4:15-6:00: The Clearbrook Dixie Band plays traditional jazz and swing…music from the 1920’s through the 1950’s plus a variety of other tunes in toe-tapping arrangements.
Youth Art Activities
12:00-2:30: Christian Anne Smith “Puppet Around the World”: Explore puppet images from around the world. Create your own tiny take-away puppet out of random objects.
3:00-5:30: Jeana Easer “Koinobori”: Make a Fish Wind Sock that celebrates Children’s Day. The carp was chosen as the symbol of children’s day, because the Japanese consider it the most spirited fish.
Sunday, March 12
