KAFE Cares about our community.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  From early detection to lowering your risks; get the latest on research and the fight against breast cancer.

Startling Statistics

  • One in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
  • On average, every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer and 1 woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes.
  • Over 3.3 million breast cancer survivors are alive in the United States today.
  • In 2019, there were 282 diagnoses of breast cancer in Whatcom County.  Of those cases, 218 were caught in the early stages; either stage 0 or stage 1.
    Age under 40 – 10 cases
    Age 40-50 – 32 cases
