Christmas Wishes – 2022

KAFE 104.1 and BECU are spreading some holiday magic and making wishes come true! Here are the wishes granted so far:

Christmas Wish #1 – The Vintage Senior Apartments asks for Christmas Cards (And you can help!)
Jackie sent us this Christmas Wish for the seniors she works with. And you can help make it come true, for the price of a card, a stamp, and a few minutes of your time!

Christmas Wish #2 – Thomas Needs New Workboots
After Thomas’ boss passed away, he wasn’t able to retrieve his work boots. So, he’s been wearing his old boots that don’t provide enough protection. As a diesel mechanic, they’re an important part of his PPE.  Thanks to help from Yeager’s Sporting Goods in Bellingham, he won’t have to worry about his feet while working!

Christmas Wish #3 – A Rock Tumbler for Jack
Last year on Christmas, Jack was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. After a year of frustration, from countless shots to not being able to eat so many of his favorite foods, his family wishes for a rock tumbler so he can make “jewels and gems” for his friends.

Christmas Wish #4 – Melissa Needs Pampering
Sharon sees how hard Melissa works to take care of her toddler AND learn a new full-time job. She thinks it’s about time for Melissa to have a day of pampering for some self-care.  Thanks to Kara’s Beauty Barn, Melissa will get some much needed self-care!

Christmas Wish #5 – Linda and her grandkids
Linda is making her way through some tough times and had nothing left to spend on her grandkids this Christmas. Seems to us a grandma needs to come through for the holidays.  Thanks to Launching Success for matching us dollar-for-dollar in gift cards for grandma to do some shopping.

Christmas Wish #6 – Damien and a Wedding Ring

Damien’s wife lost her wedding ring a few years ago and has been wearing a cheap silicone ring in its place. BECU and Borthwick Jewelry want to fix that!

Christmas Wish #7 – Patricia and the Sumas flood

Patricia’s family lost everything in the Sumas flood. They’ve had to start all over again. They’re in an apartment now but they have very little furniture, including beds to sleep on. Thanks to Furnishings Now for helping make this wish come true!

Christmas Wish #8 – David’s Cracked Windshield

Alyssa’s husband works so hard to take care of their family while studying to get into medical school.  His windshield is cracked from his job driving foster families around the state and Alyssa would like to get a new one.  Louis Auto Glass wants to help make that happen.

Christmas Wish #9 – Jennifer’s niece needs a new bike

Jennifer is raising her niece after Jennifer’s sister passed away.  They had to leave her niece’s bike at their old home in New Mexico and she’d love to be outside riding with all the other kids in her apartment complex so she could make new friends.

Christmas Wish #10 – Alexis wants to ride again

Alexis loves to ride her bike with her two kids, but it was stolen earlier this year.  Earl’s Bike Shop in Bellingham wants to get Alexis back on a bike so she and her kids can explore the PNW together and have some time together bonding as a family.

Christmas Wish #11 – Beth busts our budget for bunk beds

You may remember the recent news story of a young man shot and killed in Bellingham. This wish came from his grandmother. Sometimes we get a Christmas Wish we REALLY want to fulfill but it’s way out of our budget. This was one of those. But then, a miracle happened. And then, another miracle happened. Big thanks to Financial Plan Inc. and Allan’s brother, Ian, for providing those miracles!

Christmas Wish #12 – Kristen and her chickens

Sarah wrote us about her friend, Kristen, who is the true definition of a “helper.” Now, she’s hoping for a little help for the chickens they raise together on Kristen’s property.  Thanks to CHS Northwest, they’ll be the happiest chickens in the PNW!

Christmas Wish #13 – Darlyce wants a Volli party for fellow medical staff

It’s been a tough few years for those in the medical profession. Darlyce is a nurse at St. Joe’s and wants a party at Volli to celebrate the holidays with her heroic co-workers. (Spoiler alert: Volli wants to thank nurses too!)

Christmas Wish #14 – Sheryl’s daughter needs a laptop that works!

Sheryl’s daughter was accepted into Running Start. But her laptop is too old to run the college programs.

Christmas Wish #15 – After a tough year, Kay wants gifts for her kids

After being in a car accident, Kay discovered she had some medical issues. Her husband, a disabled vet, is working double time just to get the bills paid. She’d like Santa to bring the kids gifts this year.

Christmas Wish #16 – Leslie’s grandson is COMING HOME!

Leslie’s grandson is a U.S. Marine and they haven’t seen him since he graduated boot camp last February. He has a 10-day leave over Christmas and they want to make this one as special as possible.

Christmas Wish #17 – The unlikely friendship of Brandy and Josh

Brandy is a cab driver who nominated one of her regular customers after they became friends along the way.

Christmas Wish #18 – Teanna’s sister and brother-in-law have a LOT going on

Teanna wrote about her sister and brother-in-law, who have been commuting between Whatcom County & Seattle due to their 3-month-old baby’s rare heart disease.  She wants to help ease their burden during Christmas. Thanks to BECU, Launching Success, My Garden Nursery, and a generous listener, they’ll be able to breathe a little this Christmas.

Christmas Wish #19 – Kim Wishes For Her Kids

Kim’s son, Mitch, and his wife have had a tough few months.  In November, their oldest daughter started suffering epilepsy and grand mal seizures.  A few days later, they had to put their dog down.  Then, they missed out on Thanksgiving due to COVID.  Kim would like to help them have some gifts under their tree and a nice Christmas dinner.

Christmas Wish #20 – Robin’s Parents Need a Railing

Robin’s parents recently were injured and it’s not as safe for them to go up the stairs at their front entry without a railing.  Mike Hammes at RAM Construction will get it built so they don’t have to worry about falling.

Christmas Wish #21 – Rebecca the Nurse Needs a Stethoscope

Rebecca is a nurse at Mt. Baker Care Center in the rehab unit.  If you break your hip, you’ve had heart failure, or are post-COVID and can’t go home quite yet…you’ll see her.  Her stethoscope is old and has gotten her through the past 12 years, but she’d love to upgrade.

Christmas Wish #22 – A Christmas for Tammy’s Daughter & Grandkids

Tammy wrote us about her daughter and grandkids.  It’s been a touch few months with a lot of time at work missed for colds and flus.  She wants to make sure her family has “a Christmas” this year.
