Hunger is very real for too many families in Whatcom County.  In the face of the COVID pandemic and nationwide disruptions in the supply chain, area food banks are seeing a HUGE increase in demand for their services.

Join KAFE 104.1, the Cascade Radio Group, and Industrial Credit Union for the Feed the Need Community Food Drive from September 20th – October 1st!  A donation as small as $10 is enough to purchase 80 pounds of food to help our neighbors in need.

The Need:

    • Nearly 3500 families in Whatcom County are served by food banks each week.
    • 1 in 5 Whatcom County households regularly use a food bank.
    • 35% of food bank recipients are children.
    • 44% of food bank households have at least one family member working.
    • 52% of food bank recipients have some level of college education.
    • Since 2007, the average monthly food bank visits have increased by 80%.
    • 30,000 Whatcom County residents visit food banks each month – enough to fill Civic Stadium 8 times.
    • 596,000 pounds of food are distributed each month – enough to fill 18 semi-trucks.
