KAFE cares about our community!  Tighten up your shoelaces and bring your family to the Run with the Chums 5k on Saturday, September 11th at the BP Highlands, near Birch Bay!

This year’s run has THREE different start times to help people safely spread out!  Plus, there’s a Kids 1k Smolt Sprint Obstacle Course for your kids before each race.

Registration is FREE and if you sign up BEFORE September 3rd, you’ll get a free t-shirt!

COVID Protocols:

The event will follow all current CDC recommendations and State Mandates. Including local guidance from Whatcom County Health, “We encourage people, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, to wear a mask in crowded outdoor settings when it’s difficult to keep distance between you and others.” We ask the following of each staff, volunteer and participant:

  • Have a mask with you at all times.
  • Wear a mask at the start/finish area and while at rest stops, when you are not able to keep 6ft of distance.
  • Wash and sanitize your hands frequently.
  • If you are feeling ill the day or week of the event, please stay home.
  • If you have had contact with someone who has symptoms, or tested positive for COVID, please stay home.
  • WCD will provide disposable masks as needed, but please consider bringing your own.

 Timing: 

  • Registration 9:00-10:30am
  • 3 start times 5k Fun Run/Walk at 9:30, 10:00, 10:30 am
  • Kids Smolt Sprints are 15 min prior to each start time
  • Awards/Raffle staggered throughout the morning
