KAFE 104.1 is hitting the track at Deming Speedway!  All summer long, cheer on 14-year-old, Dakota Drake, in the KAFE 104.1 car as she tries to win the championship in her division for the second season in a row!

The races are fast, action-packed, and a great time for your family Friday nights all summer through September 29th (with a few exceptions)!

See how Dakota is doing here!  Here’s a little more about Dakota:

My name is Dakota Drake and I am the driver of the 22D 600 Restricted Micro Sprint at Deming Speedway.  I am 14 years old and just finished the 8th grade at Mount Baker Jr. High.

I was born and raised in a true racing family.  My Great-Grandpa, my Grandpa, my Dad, two of my Uncles, three of my cousins and my brother all raced or race currently.  As a little kid I would sit up in the stands and cheer on my Dad and Uncles and dream of the day I would get to try it.  Well that day came when I was 6yrs old, however it wasn’t quite what I expected.  After taking a few laps under speed, I decided that this racing business was not for this Girl!  Instead I decided to help my cousin on her car, I went from driver to crew member just like that.

A few years later my cousin broke her arm (not in a racecar J), I decided I would give it a shot and drive her car until she could return.  As they say.. the rest is history.  I have since raced two years in a Jr. Sprint and am currently running my third year in a 600R.

I now have a passion for racing that is hard to explain, the rush, the challenge and the speed it is more then words can explain.  It is my goal every week to be the fastest car out on the track, and even though I don’t always accomplish it, I put up a good fight and do not give up.

I have learned a lot about my car, from the maintenance that takes place in the shop during the week, to the setup at the track each race day. My Dad has taught me to never give up and always go into a race knowing I CAN win.  Racing has also tough me a lot about respect, patience and discipline.  These things are all needed to be a good racer.

Accomplishments:

None of these accomplishments would have been possible without all of the support from my family, friends and sponsors.
