WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The National Weather Service in Seattle has forecasted high winds for western Whatcom County starting early Monday morning and into early Tuesday morning.
Wind gusts will reach 50-55 mph in Bellingham and 40-45 mph in Lynden throughout this storm.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says these gusts of wind may cause widespread power outages and road closures due to downed trees and powerlines.
The storm will impact area beaches as the NWS is forecasting hazardous marine conditions with strong winds blowing over the Pacific Ocean. The strongest winds are forecasted to be south of Whatcom County, specifically in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Additionally, there is a 10-15% chance of thunderstorms throughout Monday. Snowfall could reach up to 1″ an hour in parts of the Cascades.
The NWS recommends residents to secure loose outdoor objects, stay clear of trees or downed powerlines and prepare for power outages.
