BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Two people were arrested in connection to a drug dealing operation in downtown Bellingham.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deb Slater says that the Whatcom Gang and Drug Task Force had been investigating one of the suspects since this summer.

In August, the suspect reported her car had been broken into and a safe had been stolen. The safe was later recovered with pills that were found to be laced with fentanyl.

Deputies arrested the safe’s owner, identified as a 31-year-old woman, as well as a 19-year-old man in connection to the drugs found in the safe.

Both suspects were taken into custody on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
