BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Another brewery in Bellingham is asking for help as its future remains uncertain.

Paws For A Beer says that they are struggling financially as they head toward the winter months. The brewery is described by Schoen as Bellingham’s first dog bar, which is entering its ninth year in business.

“Now, after eight years of Paws for a Beer, and knowing an average dog’s lifespan is around 8 years, we feel the irony,” said Schoen in the announcement. “As a business, the bar is failing.”

Owner Rylan Schoen said that a combination of daily visits plateauing, and the rising costs of wages, supplies and insurance prompted him to call on the community for help.

He added that opening the brewery’s Dog Shop last year was meant to help with expenses, but profits from that side of sales are just breaking even.

Schoen is calling on community members to take a “paws” in their day and stop by for a beer or supplies for their pets.
