R&B star John Legend has teamed up with “True Detective” director Cary Fukunaga to adapt historical biography “The Black Count” on the big screen.

The “All of Me” hitmaker is expanding his resumé with the 2012 Pulitzer Prize-winning biography, written by Tom Reiss.

“The Black Count: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, and the Real Count of Monte Cristo”, tells the story of French Revolution-era general Thomas-Alexandre Dumas, the child of a slave and a French nobleman, and the highest-ranking person of color to ever serve in a European army.

He was also the inspiration of his author son Alexandre Dumas’ novels, including “The Three Musketeers” and “The Count of Monte Cristo.”

Fukunaga is set to adapt the bestselling book for the screen, and also serve as director.

Legend will produce under his Get Lifted Film Company.
