Gimme a break! Kit Kat named ‘most influential’ candy bar

SWEET INFLUENCE: As part of the U.S. campaign, Kit Kat brand and Google offered consumers the chance to win 1,000 Nexus 7 tablets, 150,000 Google Play $5.00 credits and 20,000 coupons for a free 8 ounce bag of Kit Kat Minis.

Kit Kat candy bars have been named the “most influential” of all candy bars by Time magazine.

It was the first sweet treat to be “marketed around sharing,” the magazine said in explaining why it ranked No. 1.

“Decades later, Kit Kat remains a global obsession: last year, Google’s Android announced its new operating system would be called KitKat, and in January, Tokyo welcomed the first all-Kit Kat store, featuring flavors like edamame soy bean, purple sweet potato and wasabi,” the article states.

Hershey’s Milk Chocolate came in second on the list of the 13 most influential candy bars, with Baby Ruth, Milky Way, and the Wonka Bar rounding out the bottom three.
