Whatcom CC hoop squads honored

The Whatcom Community College basketball teams have been recognized with a coach of the year honor and 2 MVP awards.

WCC men’s coach David Dunham has been recognized as NWAACC Northern Region Coach of the Year. Dunham led the Orcas to an 18-win season this year and finished first place in the NWAACC North Division standings.

For the first time in college history, both a WCC men’s and women’s basketball player clinched the NWAACC Northern Region MVP in the same year. Sophomore Kyle Impero (Nooksack Valley HS) and freshman Kortney Grattic (Lynden HS) led the Orcas in scoring all season long, and were rewarded with dual Most Valuable Player titles. Grattic was also recognized as the NWAACC Northern Region Freshman of the Year.
