BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Longtime Bellingham Slam guard Jacob Stevenson has been selected to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Bellingham Bells game on Saturday, July 5. Game time is 7:05 p.m. against the Cowlitz Black Bears at Joe Martin Field.

In addition, the Slam as a whole will be honored by the Bells before the start of the game in recognition of the International Basketball League Championship that the team captured last Sunday over the Vancouver Volcanoes. It was the third straight IBL title and fourth overall for the Slam.

Stevenson has been a roster mainstay for the Slam ever since the team was founded in 2005 and has been involved in all four title wins, the first coming in 2008. With 1,382 career points scored, he is the IBL’s all-time leading scorer, and is coming off a season in which he averaged 19.7 points per game, ranking second on the team.

Stevenson, along with his brother Jared who was a Slam teammate for seven seasons, were recently inducted into the Western Washington University Athletics Hall of Fame for their achievements at the collegiate and professional levels.
