BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The measles is spreading in Whatcom County, but just in one house.

All four unvaccinated members of a local family now have the measles.

The Whatcom County Health Department is talking to people who may have had contact with the family.

The local cases are tied to more than 300 cases in B.C.’s Fraser Valley.

They’re all linked to a religious community that doesn’t believe in vaccinations.

ABC’s Chief Health and Medical Editor, Dr. Richard Besser, says recent outbreaks show the importance of vaccinations.
