BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Alabama Street is the second most dangerous road in Whatcom County, but a year-long traffic study has found ways to make it safer for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians alike.

The study recommends improvements to three separate sections of Alabama Street.

Chris Comeau with Bellingham Public Works says the most significant changes would be in the west section between Cornwall Avenue and James Street.

The study also recommends that pedestrian-activated crosswalks be added at Moore and

Undine Street and a traffic signal added at Saint Paul Street.
