Looking for ideas to keep the kids busy over spring break? Here are a few we came up with:
It’s not too late to do something big. If you want to reward the kids for cleaning their room or finishing their spring break homework, how about a day trip? Seattle has lots to do, of course. You could also play in Friday Harbor or, if you’re not afraid to spend a little money, the Great Wolf Lodge.
In Mount Vernon, the Skagit Tulip Festival is underway. There’s no better place to take a family picture!
How about a museum day? We have plenty of good ones. Check out the Whatcom Museum of History and Art where you’ll find the Family Interactive Gallery in the Lightcatcher building.
Or, for some local history, the Lynden Pioneer Museum has lots to see.
In downtown Bellingham, check out the Spring Break Spark Labs at the Spark Museum.
They supply the materials, tools and expertise. It’s for ages 8-14.
Mindport is a cool little interactive science museum in Bellingham. This week they’re featuring a train exhibit called Riding the Rails in addition to all the other interesting things they have to do there.
Speaking of trains, the Bellingham Railway Museum is always a fun place to play. It’s a giant train set in the Parkade Building in Bellingham.
Bellingham Public Library – Today (Wednesday) at 2:00 is Game Day at the Main Library for children ages 6 – 12. Play some new games on the Wii and Kinect. There will be snacks and board games to play too. They’re also showing some great kids’ movies this week. We have it on good authority that Friday’s movie is a Frozen sing-a-long
Walk around Fairhaven – Fairhaven Bronze statues memorializing Dirty Dan and placards describing the town’s bad history. Kids love that stuff. Maybe treat yourself to Katie’s Cupcakes while you’re there!
The latter half of spring break week calls for rain! Boo! But it’s a perfect chance to check out the INDOOR playground at Perch & Play in Bellingham.
And don’t miss the traditional cabbage toss that kicks off the Bellingham Farmer’s Market every year. The first day is Saturday, April 5th!
