Remembering “Beast Quake”
Remembering “Beast Quake”

It’s been three years since Marshawn Lynch’s 67 yard playoff run against the Saints sent fans into such a frenzy that seismologists recorded a small “earthquake” at Century Link Field.

If it happens again during tomorrow’s playoff game, scientists will be  ready.

The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network has installed two seismometers in CenturyLink Field for the game.  One is in the stands – the other is right on the field.

Scientists say they hope to better understand how the stadium responds to the activity, and to measure the energy transmitted to the ground within the stadium and within the surrounding neighborhood.

The monster run that’s come to be known as “Beast Quake” will live forever in Seattle sports lore.  Want to relive that classic Seahawks moment?  Here’s the video.
