Annie

After being the first musical to hit our stage in 1989, it seemed only appropriate to celebrate SJCT’s 25th Anniversary season with the ever-loving Annie!

Director Susan Williams has cast more than 30 islanders in this play based on the comic strip character, Little Orphan Annie (played by 9-year-old ElseDora Arendt). Her story unfolds in 1933 New York City during the Great Depression where the young optimistic orphan lives in a dreary orphanage in the tenement section of N.Y.C. Then there’s the despicable Miss Hannigan, sweet secretary Grace and millionaire Daddy Warbucks, orphans, and the beloved music, including Tomorrow, You’re never Fully Dressed Without a Smile and It’s a Hard Knock Life.

Directed by Susan Williams
Musical Direction by Jim Collado

Barbershop Bonanza

The islands’ popular Sunday afternoon of non-stop, high-spirited harmonies is back! With a medley of contemporary and old-time favorites, close harmony, and general musical merrymaking, Barbershop Bonanza features the sonorous sounds of mainland groups and hometown talents.

• First Capitol Chorus, 45-member choir from Langley B.C.
• Cheers, Seattle-area quartet and Evergreen District Champions
• Sound Vibrations, our local women’s a cappella ensemble;
• Island Chordsmen Plus, San Juan’s mixed barbershop chorus

Bonanza director Angel Michaels says everyone in the audience is invited to attend the complimentary afterglow reception in the Gubelman Theatre following the show.

Sunday, June 1 ….2:00 pm
