Bellingham Parks & Recreation Preschool Program
Bellingham Parks & Recreation is offering a two-morning-a-week program for children ages three and four and new to preschool. The program provides a variety of activities designed specifically to their level of development including art, sensory, literacy, music and movement. The preschool also has an outdoor playground and an indoor gym providing opportunities for large muscle development. This program focuses primarily on socialization, cooperation, and recreation. Children must be fully toilet trained, and class size is limited to 15 children (with two instructors). The fall quarter runs Mondays and Tuesdays from September 7 to November 23. 15th Annual Boys & Girls Clubs Of Skagit County/Blade Chevrolet Golf Tournament
On Friday, September 10 at Avalon Golf Course in Burlington there will be the 15th Annual Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County/Blade Chevrolet Golf Tournament. Tailgate Rock Sale and Swap Event

4th Annual Cribbage Tournament
The 4th annual "Compete for a Cause" Cribbage Tournament is slated for Sunday, September 12th in the Boundary Bay Brewery Beer Garden. This is a one of a kind fundraising event here in Whatcom County that includes prizes, food, and a silent auction of beautiful handmade cribbage boards donated by local artists. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center in Bellingham.
The tournament takes place on September 12th 2010, with sign in beginning at 9:00am, followed with the tournament at 9:30am. Advance Registration is strongly encouraged. Crush The Lyme 2010 Loreen Family Fun Run
On Sunday, September 19th in Bloedel Donovan Park in Bellingham come join the Crush The Lyme fun run for the Loreen Family. Jackie Loreen and her four sons have been diagnosed with lyme disease. They have found a physician in San Francisco that can better treat and care for Jackie and her sons, but flying back and forth and the medical bills are very expensive. Come help out the Loreen Family by participating in Crush The Lyme Loreen Family Fun Run. Registration is from 11-11:45am and the race starts at 12pm. Food and entertainment from 12:30 to 3pm. Cost is $25 per person and $75 per family, all proceeds will go to the Loreen Family Benefit Account.

The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center (WDRC) is seeking nominations for the Eighth Annual Peace Builder Awards. The general public is invited to nominate any individual, group or business to receive the award by September 18, 2010. The award recognizes community members and organizations that have contributed to local peaceful conflict resolution within the past year. The seven categories include: health care, public servant, community member, volunteer, youth/student, education, and program/organization/business. Bellair Baker Shuttle

Bellair Charters is again offering their popular Bellair Baker Shuttle, providing round-trip transportation from Bellingham to Mt. Baker Ski Area on Sundays and bonus days throughout the ski season. This year they are teaming up with Joe's Sports & Outdoor, who will be providing pre-trip coffee and snacks to shuttle riders.
The Bellair Baker Shuttle will make just three stops this year, en route tothe mountian. Pickups are at Western Washington University (Fairhaven college parking lot), Joe's Sports & Outdoor (300 E Bellis Fair Pkwy, Bellingham, behind Value Village) and Glacier (Park & Ride near Snowater Resort) and riders wil arrive at Mt. Baker Ski Area at 9am, ready to hit the slopes. Shuttle service will bein on the first Sunday that the ski area is open. Round-trip fare from Bellingham is only $18 per person, and $13 from Glacier. Advance reservations are required for Glacier pickups, and highly recommended for Bellingham pickups. Reservatons can easily be made by calling 360.380.8800 or 866.235.5247. The Bellingham Food Bank has its very own farm to help bring more fresh produce to the 700 families who visit the food bank each week. Managers at the farm anticipate providing the food bank with at least 8 tons of fresh produce by the end of the growing season, but the farm needs help. Available volunteer shifts are Mondays from 9:00am - 1:00pm, Wednesdays from 1:00pm-5:00pm, Fridays from 9:00-1:00pm, and Saturdays from 9:00am-12:00pm. The farm is located just 15 minutes from downtown Bellingham, off the Guide Meridian and transportation assistance can be arranged.
